Конец ХХ века в экономически и социально развитых странах на настоящий момент отмечается некоторое превосходство онкологических заболеваний, по причине которых умирает в два раза больше людей. В связи с этим, острой проблемой является разработка способов и технологий лечения злокачественных новообразований и, на данный момент, медицинская практика насчитывает множество таких способов. В числе создания относительно новых методов терапии, избирательно разрушающих опухолевую ткань, разработана фотодинамическая терапия (ФДТ), которая дает возможность селективного действия препаратов на опухоль.
